Please join me in welcoming Visiting Artist Julia Haft-Candell to our community.  Julia is a ceramic and mixed-media artist from Los Angeles.  Her work uses abstracted forms to explore broad themes of mythology, infinity and our mortal existence.  Julia holds an MFA degree from UC San Diego, and recently had a solo show at the Parasch Heijnen Gallery in LA.  Her work is currently showing at the clay biennial Melting Point, at the Craft and Folk Art Museum in Los Angeles.

I hope many of you can come on Wednesday Feb. 7th for her workshop in the ceramics studio in the Frost Art Center on campus from 9:00 am – noon, or for her public lecture at 7:00 pm in the Penguin Union Building room 161.  Both events are free and open to the public.  Feel free to print and post the attached flyer for other to see.
