Exhibition Title: The Alchemy of Surface
Click to view and print Alchemy of Surface Prospectus
Description: An inspired surface can turn plain into remarkable, remarkable into sublime. This group of OPA member artists is sharing their extraordinary (often secret) surface techniques and formulas.
Alchemy is a power that transforms something in a mysterious and impressive way. In this exhibition, clay, chemicals, and flame make magic: Thirty Oregon Potters Association ceramic artists will display their work and disclose glaze recipes, textural techniques, firing methods, and other hard-won secrets. View the brilliant and sometimes challenging realizations of forms and their exceptional surfaces. The artists are sharing their details, formulas and techniques and you will leave full of magical ideas. Take away a full-color “how to” booklet, or find information online to use now and in the future in your own studio.
Eligibility: Open to OPA members. We are asking OPA members to nominate their favorite ceramic artists and their surfaces. You may nominate yourself or another artist, so long as they are an OPA member.
Artists will be invited based on providing a well-balanced and exciting show. The nomination does not require a picture of the actual piece that will be exhibited at this show.
If you are chosen, the deadline to supply a professional photo of the final piece is November 15, 2016
