Pop Up Gallery

WHAT: Pop Up Gallery for 50-60 OPA Members

WHEN: November 15 - December 31

WHERE: 300 SW Yamhill in downtown Portland

Prosper Portland has granted OPA a 3,000 square foot prime retail location for a Pop Up gallery. The proposal we submitted described a gallery for emerging and long-standing OPA members, run cooperatively, with a low commission taken and participating members filling all work roles. A team has come together to begin planning this new venture.

We envision a bright open space - shelves brimming with work and clusters of pedestals highlighting large pieces. A card rack with greeting cards featuring photos of member’s work, a Christmas tree studded with handmade ornaments and a demo area will add interest to our unique establishment.

We will be open November 16th - December 31st, Tuesdays*-Sundays, 10am-6pm, with possible extended holiday hours. We will have access to the space beginning November 1st and that is when onsite preparations will begin. *Possibly Mondays, too.

Participating members will:

·        Pay $30 to register. (refunded with payment)

Form for registration will be emailed after payment comfirmation. Please check your email after you pay to complete the form.

·        Help to prep the site, be on the social media team or help break down the site

·        Work seven 4.5-hour work shifts to staff the shop between Nov 16th-Dec. 31st.

A 20% commission will be taken on all sales,

with the figure dropping to 15% for everyone,

if gross sales for the 7-weeks top $100,000.

Payment checks will be issued by January 31st, 2022

Shifts can be once a week or days clustered together. These work shifts will be in the realm of customer service - cashier, wrapper, shop attendants, security, demonstrations, etc. We are planning to have 4-5 folks in the shop at all times.

We estimate having room for 50-60 members to participate, with 20% of those slots being reserved for our BIPOC & AAPI members.

We see this as a wonderful opportunity for OPA to try something new. As such we anticipate there will be a lot of learning as we go. It is essential that all of those involved fulfill their obligation and be flexible and kind to each other.

This is not just a sales opportunity,

but also a time for members to build relationships

by working along side each other.

All members in good standing are welcome to register.

We want to show off the depth & breadth of OPA members’ work!
